Kingdom Death Monster: Promos of Death Collector's Buying Guide

Quick answer

If you already own Kingdom Death: Monster and want the original Kickstarter promo miniatures and cards without hunting the secondary market, the Promos of Death set is worth considering—provided you are comfortable with a preorder and do not need the gameplay content immediately. If you are new to the game or prefer retail-available expansions, skip this set and focus on core expansions first.

What the Promos of Death set actually contains

This is a Kickstarter promo bundle, not a full expansion. According to the catalog, it includes six hard plastic promo miniatures from the first Kickstarter campaign, two gift miniatures, eight large art cards, one settlement event card, and six gear cards. That mix makes it primarily a collector's item with a small amount of in-game content—the settlement event and gear cards are the only pieces that directly affect play. The miniatures and art cards are display and completionist pieces. If you are looking for a new campaign or monsters, this is not that product.

The preorder timing trade-off

The catalog lists an expected delivery date of September 30, 2026. That means you are paying now for a product that will not ship for several months. This is normal for Kickstarter-derived supplements, but it matters if you are buying a gift or want to paint the miniatures soon. Before ordering, confirm that you are comfortable with the wait and that the final contents match what you expect—promo sets can change between campaigns and retail releases. If you need a product in hand this month, choose an in-stock expansion instead.

Crossover promos and card compatibility

The set is tied to the first Kingdom Death: Monster Kickstarter, and the gear and settlement event cards are designed for that game. The catalog does not list cross-compatibility with other Kingdom Death products or crossover promos, so do not assume these cards work with every expansion. If you are specifically collecting crossover promos, check the individual product listings for those sets rather than expecting this bundle to cover them. For most buyers, the Promos of Death set stands alone as a nostalgia and completionist purchase.

Value versus the secondary market

The catalog price is USD 162.49, compared with a catalog comparison price of USD 249.99. That difference suggests a meaningful discount versus the listed reference price, but it is not a guarantee of market value. Promo miniatures can be hard to find individually, and buying the set in one order saves you the time and shipping cost of chasing six separate miniatures. However, if you only want one or two specific miniatures, the bundle may include pieces you never use. Weigh the convenience of a single purchase against the likelihood that you will actually display or play with everything inside.

Decision rules for buying Promos of Death

• You already own Kingdom Death: Monster and want the original Kickstarter promos: Buy this set if you missed the first Kickstarter and want the promo miniatures and cards without paying separate secondary-market prices. Check that you are comfortable with the September 2026 delivery date. Confirm your core game is the same edition these promos were made for.
• You are new to Kingdom Death: Monster: Do not start here. The core game and retail expansions offer far more gameplay for your first purchase. This set is a supplement for existing owners. Prioritize a core set or a gameplay expansion before any promo bundle.
• You only want the settlement event or gear cards: Consider whether the price is worth it for a handful of cards. The miniatures and art cards make up most of the value, so if you will not use them, this may not be the most efficient purchase. Check whether the individual cards are available separately before committing.
• You are buying as a gift: Verify the recipient already owns Kingdom Death: Monster and is interested in collector's items. The preorder delay means the gift will arrive months after purchase, so plan accordingly. Confirm the delivery window fits the occasion.

Product facts

• Kingdom Death Monster: Promos of Death (Kickstarter Pre-Order Special): Kickstarter set includes 6 promo miniatures, 2 gift miniatures, 8 large art cards, 1 settlement event card, and 6 gear cards. This tells you the set is mostly collectible miniatures and art, with only a small amount of playable content, so buy it for the collection rather than for new scenarios.
