In Verdant, you take on the role of a houseplant enthusiast trying to create the coziest space by collecting and arranging houseplants and other objects within your home. In this multi-layered spatial puzzle, you must position your plants so that they receive the most suitable light conditions and take care of them using various nurture actions to create the most verdant collection!

Verdant features over 50 unique plants for players to collect and care for, each with accurate individual attributes, facts about the plants, and stunning artwork!

Verdant comes with a variety of end game scoring goal cards allowing you to mix and match new challenges each and every time you play! There are hundreds of unique game setups to explore! Create a beautiful tableau of plants, pets and furnishings as you compete to curate the coziest home!

The game is designed by Molly Johnson, Aaron Mesburne, Robert Melvin, Kevin Russ, and Shawn Stankewich - designers of titles such as Point Salad, Dollars to Donuts, Calico, and Overboss.  It is developed and directed by the team behind Calico and Cascadia, along with new team member Joseph Z. Chen, designer and publisher of Fantastic Factories. The graphic design is by Dylan Mangini and artwork by Beth Sobel who have each designed and illustrated countless gorgeous board games.

Each turn, you select an adjacent pair of a card and token, then use those items to build an ever-expanding tableau of cards that represents your home. You need to keep various objectives in mind as you attempt to increase plant verdancy by making spatial matches and using item tokens to take various nurture actions. You can also build your "green thumb" skills, which allows you to take additional actions to care for your plants and create the coziest space!

Verdant can be played solo! The solo mode elegantly simulates a 2-player game experience by turning the token and card drafting into a shifting market. Players must make difficult decisions about which cards and tokens to take, as each turn brings changes to what is available. Players must also strategically set up for future turns as Green Thumb Token bonuses cascade through the market, but will be eliminated if too many accumulate on a single card. The solo mode is a quick and relaxing experience that is simple to learn, and does not require the upkeep of an AI player, while still offering interesting puzzly choices and challenging thresholds to overcome! If you enjoyed the solo modes in Calico and Cascadia, you will feel right at home with Verdant!

The insert trays that come with this Kickstarter version are fantastic—everything fits snugly and setup takes half the time it did with my other card games. I've already run through three games with friends and the potless plants expansion adds just enough variety without complicating the rules.

Daniel Q. ★★★★★

The solo mode is honestly where this shines for me—the 1 to 5 player range means I can set it up on a quiet evening alone, and the potless plants expansion adds just the right twist to the tableau building. Even after a dozen plays, the puzzle of matching rooms to plant cards keeps pulling me back i

The plant cards have such calming, soft art that just makes setting up the table feel cozy. Even with five of us crowded around, the card-drafting stayed snappy and clear, though I do wish the solo rules were a bit easier to find in the manual at first glance. The potless mini-expansion adds a nice
