Learn what's inside the Final Girl: A Rotten Harvest Miniatures set and how to swap tokens for minis in your Series 4 games. Includes compatibility notes and practical setup tips.

What you need before you start

The Final Girl: A Rotten Harvest Miniatures set is an accessory, not a standalone game. To use it, you must already own the Final Girl core box and the A Rotten Harvest Feature Film expansion (both sold separately). Without those, the miniatures have no rules or scenarios to plug into.

This guide assumes you have those two products and want to replace the cardboard tokens from the expansion with the four included miniatures. The process is straightforward, but a few compatibility and storage points are worth checking first.

What's in the box

  • Final Girl: A Rotten Harvest Miniatures [Series 4] (Retail Edition): Includes 1 Killer Miniature, 2 Final Girl Miniatures, and 1 Vehicle Miniature. These four minis correspond to the killer, the two playable Final Girls, and the vehicle from the A Rotten Harvest expansion. You'll use them to replace the matching tokens during play.

  • Final Girl: A Rotten Harvest Miniatures [Series 4] (Retail Edition): Retail Edition of Final Girl: A Rotten Harvest Miniatures [Series 4] by Van Ryder Games. This is the standard retail release, not a Kickstarter exclusive, so it matches the retail version of the expansion.

How to swap tokens for miniatures in four steps

Follow these steps each time you set up A Rotten Harvest. The goal is to use the minis as visual replacements for the tokens without changing any game rules.

  1. Set up the game as usual: Follow the setup instructions in the A Rotten Harvest Feature Film rulebook. Place the board, decks, and tokens as you normally would.
  2. Locate the matching tokens: Find the killer token, the two Final Girl tokens, and the vehicle token that come with the expansion. These are the ones you'll replace.
  3. Replace tokens with minis: Put the killer miniature on the killer's starting space, the two Final Girl miniatures on their starting spaces, and the vehicle miniature on the vehicle's starting space. Use the minis wherever the tokens would normally go.
  4. Store the tokens safely: Keep the original tokens in the box. You may want them if you play without the minis or if you sell the expansion later.

Miniatures vs tokens: what changes at the table

The miniatures are purely a visual upgrade. They do not add new rules, scenarios, or gameplay effects. The publisher describes them as a way to 'enhance your games of A Rotten Harvest with 4 high quality miniatures.'

In practice, minis make it easier to see where characters and the killer are on the board, especially in a crowded play area. They also add a bit of table presence. The trade-off is that minis take up slightly more space than flat tokens and require careful storage to avoid paint damage.

If you often play in a hurry or prefer minimal components, the tokens are perfectly functional. The minis are for players who enjoy the tactile and visual appeal of painted figures.

Compatibility check: will these minis work with your copy?

The minis are designed specifically for the A Rotten Harvest expansion. They are not generic and will not match other Final Girl feature films.

  • Final Girl core box: Required. The core box provides the basic rules and components. Without it, you cannot play.
  • A Rotten Harvest Feature Film: Required. This expansion provides the killer, Final Girls, and vehicle that the minis represent. The minis are not usable with other expansions.
  • Other Final Girl expansions: Not compatible. Each expansion has its own set of tokens and miniatures. Using these minis with a different film would be confusing and unsupported.

Storage and handling tips

To keep your miniatures in good condition, consider these practical suggestions.

  • Use a compartment box: A small tackle box or compartmented storage container keeps the four minis from bumping into each other and chipping paint.
  • Keep away from heat: Store minis in a cool, dry place. Excessive heat can warp plastic figures.
  • Handle by the base: When moving minis during play, pick them up by the base rather than the painted areas to reduce wear.
